FLAXMILL BAY

Catch the Ferry at Whitianga Wharf to Flaxmill Bay, just a short 5-10 minute walk from the landing.

Flaxmill Bay is just such a picturesque, beautiful little bay, we used it as the backdrop for our most recent Womens Capsule Collection Photoshoot!

The far right hand end of the beach is nice and sheltered, you will find lots of boats moored there. It’s perfect for the little kids to paddle in as it doesn’t get big waves. I love a beach with shade for the kids and Flaxmill has lots of options with trees and rock overhang providing sun and wind shelter.

The rocks are lots of fun to explore and nice and easy for littler kids to climb on. At low tide you can walk quite far around to find rock pools with all sorts of sea life.

There is also a pontoon for the older kids to swim out to.

If you’re hungry I love Eggsentric Cafe for great coffee, cafe food and a little store with lots of delicious locally sourced produce including homemade bread, fresh fruit, vegetables, deli food and more. They have a little playground out the back for the kids, and a sculptural garden to keep them entertained. The also have live music gigs, check their website for the next date.

Grab and Iceblock or Coffee at The Ferry Landing Store.

Or if you’re ready for dinner, try Cooked Coromandel for a delicious Mexican inspired menu.
